Said the man who told the truth
There are saints, fools, angels
There are people living life like there’s no rules
There are lies, truths, no explanations
We’re just supposed to know, pick and choose
Stand in line, be you, raise your voices
Play the game. Don’t let them tell you what to do.
You know why, you don’t
You cry, all iniquity
and you’re supposed to let it go
– –
We stand by, in shame, walk away
Pretending there’s always someone else to blame
and there’s no change, no change
We had our reasons, we say
and every time we do the same
There are facts and figures
in our minds
Created by the armless and seen by the blind
Promises, decisions made by fools
hiding all their crimes behind a system of rules
We destroy things we love, said the man who told the truth
Contaminate free will, all that is good
The fools and the bigots, fanatics, and thieves
We are all a part, guilty
All a part of the scheme
All these saints, fools, angels
All these people living life like there’s no rules
Lies, truths, no explanations
We just don’t know. We pick and choose
We call it white lies
We cheat and moralise
Make up rules
and make ‘em fit our own size
No one is perfect
There‘s no fountain of youth
So said the man, the man who told the truth
